Robert Rita has been a state representative since 2003. He serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Health & Healthcare Disparities Committee.

As a state representative, Rita has voted in favor of contraceptive coverage in health insurance and protecting reproductive health clinics from violence and harassment. In addition, he has opposed dangerous restrictions on the right to choose abortion which would have endangered women’s health and safety.
